Background. Avalon Precision Casting Company was founded in 1982 by John Kemper and Mel Kman, and has always been a privately owned company. In 2007, we're celebrating our 25th anniversary as a producer of investment castings! Sales in 2006 were $12 million.
Products.
We produce intricate net and near-net metal parts using the investment casting process. Investment castings offer many advantages over other casting processes.
Alloys. A broad range of ferrous and non-ferrous metals are used. These include several grades of carbon and alloy steels, tool steels, austenitic and martensitic stainless steels, PH stainlless steels, cobalt alloys, nickel-copper, high alloy nickel, alloy 600, brass, bronze, aluminum and aluminum magnesium. Alloy properties are available on our website for many types and grades of steels.
Size Range. Parts weighing from 1 ounce to 60 pounds (0.03 to 27Kgs). Sizes up to 18" (.63 m).
Tolerances. ±.005 inch per inch (±.127 mm) or better.
Capabilities. We have the capacity to handle both large and small volume runs. If needed, we also offer parts complete to print, including machining, heat treating, plating, anodizing, painting. We offer Kanban stocking programs, total non-destructive testing and rapid prototyping, including the use of SLA, SLS, ThermoJet and Envision patterns.
People. We currently have 72 employees. Everyone involved in the production process has a say in how things are done here. And all have the skills necessary for the fine detail work Avalon is known for.
Design Assistance. We like to be involved with our customer's design engineers as early as possible. Our extensive experience with the investment casting process goes a long way towards developing the best, most cost-efficient parts. We can accept CAD information in any form of 2D and 3D file formats.
Quality Assurance. At Avalon, quality control is an active, not reactive, function of manufacturing. Quality assurance starts the minute raw materials come in the door and continues through every stage of the casting process.

We achieve part-to-part consistency, so the last casting is the same high quality as the first. We work to ISO 9001:2000, a standard of excellence that is recognized around the world.
